Hampton, VA is an area rich in early American history and discovery. In 1606, three ships from England, landed near the entrance to the body of water that became known as Hampton Roads. For the next 400 years, Hampton become a growing city on the Chesapeake Bay. Nearby Fort Monroe, the largest stone fort ever built in the United States, was known a safe haven for hundreds of runaway slaves during the Civil War. It still stands today. During his days in the Marines, Waterstone President Chris Kuran was stationed in nearby Norfolk. The rich history of this Virginian region was the inspiration for the Hampton Suite.
